Rt Hon Michael Gove Secretary of State for Education - Physics Factory visit (Friday 27th April 2012)

Today the Rt Hon Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education visited the Birmingham Physics Factory to see at first hand the incredible work that has been happening since opening in September 2009. He met members of the Physics Factory Board and a number of our sixth form Physics Factory Ambassadors.

In just under 3 years nearly 700 teachers have attended our training courses and nearly 200 different classes from over 50 schools have sent students to be taught by us.
Apart from the excellent examination results achieved there has also been a surge in the uptake of A Level Physics.

The Student Ambassadors told Mr Gove how their futures have been shaped by the Physics Factory. I do believe he was genuinely impressed by their eloquent explanations of how they have been given the opportunity to become successful physics students.
It is vital now for the Physics Factory to become financially secure to continue its fantastic work. With Mr Gove’s endorsement I am sure there will be backing from all sectors to be a part of this great success story.
