how can we find out more?

The Physics Factory has helped our students tremendously in their understanding and has enthused many of them enough to want to study Physics further. Now the only question our year 10s want answered is, when can they go? Thanks Phil!

I am the senior technician at Baverstock and finding the Physics Factory an extremely interesting and rewarding place to come. The explanations are clear and varied and keep our students attentive and eager for more . I'm now looking forward to making a copy of the generator model I saw here today!

I am the Head of Science at Baverstock and bring my separate sciences group to the Physics Factory for their Physics extension topic AQA P3. The Pupils are very motivated and are really enjoying these sessions. The range of activities coupled with examination questions and examiner's tips have made these sessions an invaluable learning tool. One of my pupils last session said he now wants to do Physics at the University. This is a testimony to how much pupils are enjoying these sessions!

Phil, just a little note to thank you for the EDEXCEL P2 IAA training day that you John Booth and Chris Durkin ran in February. It was very well received by our students and Farhat (teacher who attended) came back so enthused! Very much appreciated.

The Physics Factory has helped our pupils understand physics in an enjoyable way. I feel a number of our girls are considering taking physics A Level now! Thank you, Phil for inspiring our pupils!

Hi Phil

What a wonderful day of hands on activities, which have inspired all the pupils in the group. Hearing comments like "if this is physics I want to do more" and the development of questioning from pupils during the session was excellent. The Physics factory is an excellent facility a perfect place for getting pupils to live the wonder of physics.

Looking forward to visiting again, very soon.

As a non-physics specialist about to teach EdExcel P3 for the first time, I found the course incredibly useful and inspiring. It not only improved my subject knowledge but equipped me with ways to break down topics to make them more accessible to students. Having a go at the practicals was a lot of fun! Thanks

Thanks to Phillip and Neil at The Physics Factory. Having completed the SKE course recently I really feel like I have got my ‘mojo’ back. I was feeling a little jaded with teaching but The Physics Factory has really fired me up again. It confirmed that I already do some good stuff with my pupils which has boosted my confidence but far more than that, I’ve taken lots of new, innovative and really great ideas away with me and I learnt more in five days than I have in years of teaching!

From concrete understanding to abstract explanations, I have accessed a whole wealth of information to help my pupils. How do you help pupils understand why a voltmeter is placed in parallel? Simple, use boiled sweets. Use pie cases for static electricity and a beach ball for ionisation.

I am ashamed to say that even after many, many years of teaching Science, the Physics Factory was still of enormous benefit to me. I wholly recommend anybody who is considering teaching or experienced teachers who lack confidence in delivering outside of their specialism to visit The Physics Factory.

Hi, Thirteen pupils from our school Harborne academy wer taught the P£ module by Phil over 6 days of 5 hour sessions and supported back in school with revsion lessons. 82% of these pupils achieved a grade A-C. This was all due to Phil's enthusiastic way of delivering P3 module, we could not have achieved this without his support.

Thanks Phil, we hope to do this again with our new year 11's.
